Elegance, Passion & a little Jazz
Sunday, January 25, 2026 @ 3:30 PM
We open our 33rd season in the capable hands of Franz Joseph Haydn and his Piano Trio In D major, Hob. XV. 7, a piece of elegance, charm and wit. Fanny Mendelssohn’s Piano Trio in D minor, Op.11 is a passionate and intensely lyrical work from the Romantic Era. Contrasting both, the famous Rhapsody in Blue by George Gershwin for piano duet will delight all.

Musical Menagerie
Sunday March 29, 2026 @ 3:30 PM
This concert presents delightful mixes of oboe, French horn, viola and piano. We’ll hear two short evocative duos: The soulful Ballade for Viola and Piano by Minna Keal, and the evocative Romance for Horn and Piano by Canadian composer Elizabeth Raum. In the mix, two Romantic trios, both with a decidedly sunny disposition: the Trio for Oboe, Viola and Piano Op.34 by Adolf Ruthhardt, and the Trio in A minor for Oboe, Horn and Piano Op.188 by Carl Reinecke.

Masterworks for Mother’s Day
Sunday May 10, 2026 @ 3:30 PM
Our season culminates in three masterworks of the literature: Beethoven’s Piano Trio Op.70 No 2 in E flat major is rich, compelling and bursting with melody. Johannes Brahms’ Violin and Piano Sonata in G major, Op.78 “Regensonate” (Rain Song) is a beautiful work admired for its geniality and eloquence. The concert concludes with Anton Arensky’s Piano Trio in D minor, Op.32, a highly expressive work with many dark moments, yet ultimately triumphant.
Musicians:
- Angela Cavadas, violin
- Ben Goheen, cello
- Frances Armstrong, piano
